Invisalign

Set of clear aligners resting in an Invisalign® branded case on a blue background.Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that straightens teeth using a series of clear, removable aligners made from smooth, BPA-free plastic. These aligners are custom-made to fit the patient's teeth and are designed to gently and gradually move teeth into their desired position. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks before it is replaced with the next set in the series, continuing the process until the teeth are properly aligned.

How Is the Invisalign Procedure Done?

The Invisalign process typically involves the following steps:
•  Initial consultation: The process begins with an evaluation by Our doctors, who will determine if Invisalign is the right treatment option. During this visit, we will take digital impressions, X-rays, and photographs of the teeth to create a 3D model of the patient's mouth.
•  Treatment plan: Based on the digital model, a personalized treatment plan is developed. We will map out the precise movements of the teeth and estimate the length of treatment. Patients can also see a preview of how their teeth will move throughout the process.
•  Aligner fabrication: Custom-made aligners are created based on the treatment plan. Each set of aligners is worn for about 20 to 22 hours per day.
•  Regular checkups: Patients will visit our office every six to eight weeks to monitor progress and receive new sets of aligners.
•  Completion of treatment: Once the treatment is complete, the patient will receive retainers to wear at night to ensure that the teeth maintain their new positions.

One of the significant benefits of Invisalign is that it requires little to no recovery time. Patients can continue their daily activities without the discomfort often associated with metal braces. However, you may feel some slight pressure or discomfort when starting a new set of aligners, which typically lasts for a few days as the teeth adjust to the new aligner.

How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Last?

The duration of Invisalign treatment depends on the complexity of the dental issues that need attention. On average, treatment lasts between 12 and 18 months, though some cases may require more or less time. Patients with more severe misalignment may need to wear aligners for a longer period, while those with minor corrections can often achieve results in less than a year.

It's important to follow our instructions and wear the aligners as prescribed to ensure the treatment stays on track.

How to Maintain Invisalign Aligners

Proper care of Invisalign aligners is essential for achieving the best results and ensuring the appliances remain clean and clear throughout the treatment process. Here are some maintenance tips:
•  Clean aligners daily: Brush the aligners gently with a soft toothbrush and clear, antibacterial soap to prevent plaque buildup. Avoid using toothpaste, as it can scratch the aligners.
•  Remove aligners when eating or drinking: To prevent staining and damage, always remove aligners before consuming food or beverages (except water).
•  Rinse aligners regularly: After removing the aligners, rinse them with cool water to keep them fresh and free from bacteria.
•  Store aligners in a case: When not in use, store the aligners in a protective case to prevent loss or damage.
•  Brush and floss teeth before reinserting aligners: Maintaining good oral hygiene is essential to prevent bacteria and plaque from getting trapped between the teeth and aligners.
